The Ministry of SMEs and Startups inspected the readiness and emergency response systems of its affiliated and subordinate agencies ahead of the Ulchi exercise.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) said it held a "Ulchi exercise preparation briefing" in a conference room at the Government Sejong Complex on the 10th and reviewed the training readiness and agency-specific response plans of 13 regional SMEs and Startups offices and subordinate agencies.
The briefing was arranged to share progress on the Ulchi exercise, which runs from the 18th to the 21st, and to check the procedures for transitioning to a wartime posture, the task execution systems by agency, and coordination plans among related agencies.
At the meeting, the emergency and disaster officer gave a comprehensive report on Ulchi exercise preparations, after which each bureau and office shared key tasks and detailed plans. They also inspected overall capabilities to respond to wartime situations and the broader emergency response system.
They also checked core training plans, including emergency mobilization of public officials, establishment of wartime organizations and an integrated situation room, and relocation to backup facilities.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) plans to use this Ulchi exercise to verify the effectiveness of the "Chungmu Plan," a wartime contingency plan, and to strengthen each agency's crisis response capabilities.
It also plans to examine whether the support system for small and midsize businesses can be sustained so that support for SMEs during wartime, the supply of raw and subsidiary materials, and support measures for business sites can proceed without disruption even if an emergency occurs.
First Vice Minister Noh Yong-seok of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) said, "Each bureau, office, and affiliated agency should check the procedures for wartime transition, the situation reporting system, and dispersal and movement plans, and make thorough preparations to respond seamlessly even in a crisis."
