Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA) has begun the "Vietnam smart factory official development assistance (ODA) project) in earnest.
The AI innovation promotion team at TIPA said on the 7th that it opened a local base office in Hanoi, Vietnam, on the 28th of last month and held a briefing session on the 29th at Lotte Hotel L7 Hanoi for a process improvement consulting project to build a "Korea-Vietnam smart manufacturing and AI innovation ecosystem."
The event brought together TIPA's AI innovation promotion team, which is in charge of smart manufacturing innovation and AI innovation, as well as the State Agency for Technology Innovation (SATI) in Vietnam and officials from Seoul Technopark, to discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two countries.
TIPA's Hanoi local base office will serve as a communication channel supporting cooperation between ODA implementing agencies in Korea and Vietnam and as a forward base supporting the entry of domestic smart manufacturing specialist corporations into Vietnam. It will also be used as a hub to continuously identify the technology needs of local manufacturing corporations and support project operations.
About 100 people, including government official and businesspeople, attended the briefing, among them more than 50 local manufacturing corporations in Vietnam. The promotion team introduced cases of building Korea-style smart factories, details of process improvement consulting support, participation conditions, and application procedures, and conducted networking and one-on-one consultations. It achieved results by identifying the technology needs of local manufacturing corporations to select 20 corporations for smart factory pre-diagnosis consulting in 2026.
Ahn Gwang-hyeon, head of TIPA's AI innovation promotion team, said, "With the opening of the Hanoi local base office, we have laid the groundwork for promoting the Vietnam project," and added, "We will faithfully carry out the consulting project so it can lead to tangible process improvement results for local manufacturing corporations."
