Eastar Jet Co. recorded an average load factor of more than 90% in the first half of this year, ranking No. 1 among Korean airlines.
On the 6th, Eastar Jet Co., citing the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's aviation information portal system, said its average load factor for January–June this year was tallied at 93%. During this period, it operated 20,000 flights on about 40 domestic and international routes and supplied a total of 3.7 million seats, of which 3.43 million passengers actually boarded.
This is the highest level among Korean airlines. The average load factor for Korean carriers is 89%, 4 percentage points lower than Eastar Jet Co. Eastar Jet Co. also ranked No. 1 among Korean airlines last year with an annual load factor of 90%.
An Eastar Jet Co. official said, "Service improvements to enhance customer convenience and continued safety investments led to the high load factor."
Eastar Jet Co. removed unnecessary intermediate prompts on its website so customers who do not wish to purchase ancillary services can quickly pay for airfare alone. It also added a chatbot service and information such as airport parking congestion and gate details so customers can check the information they need in real time.
It is also continuously improving airport use convenience. In the "immigration and emigration processing time survey" conducted last year by Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), it recorded one of the shortest check-in processing times among Korean airlines at about 10 minutes.
It is also continuing to invest in safety. It set up a maintenance center of about 2,000 pyeong at Gimpo International Airport and introduced a physical fitness test in the cabin crew recruitment process to strengthen emergency response capabilities.
An Eastar Jet Co. official said, "We will continue to advance our services and steadily strengthen our safety competitiveness to become the airline customers choose first."
