The Korea Venture Capital Association (VC Association) has begun running a "Deal Day" program to help scale-up TIPS-selected corporations attract follow-on investment.
VC Association said on the 31st that it held the first event of the "2026 scale-up TIPS Deal Day" at Startup Venture Campus Seoul (Seoul SVC).
Deal Day, held the previous day, is a program launched this year to support practical fundraising for scale-up TIPS-selected corporations. It provides support ranging from improving IR (investor relations) materials through corporation-by-corporation pre-diagnosis and feedback, to presentations for investors, one-on-one consultations with professional investors, and post-event consulting.
This year's events will be held six times nationwide, starting in Seoul and moving to Busan, Gwangju, Gangwon, Gyeonggi, and North Chungcheong. About 60 people attended the first event, including 10 corporations selected for scale-up TIPS in the bio sector and 21 bio-focused investors.
Participating corporations showcased technologies and business models in the bio and medical fields, including electroceuticals; gene and cell therapies; a long-acting bio new drug platform; bone grafts; and an artificial intelligence (AI)-based new drug development platform.
The event consisted of two sessions. In the first, Director Ahn Hyeong-uk of Double Capital introduced effective IR strategies from an investor's perspective, based on recent successful investment cases. After that, the 10 participating corporations each gave a 10-minute presentation to explain to investors their refined business results and technological competitiveness following pre-consulting.
In the second session, investment consultations were held between participating corporations and investors. Reflecting each corporation's technology field and investment needs, each corporation met with at least two investors. A clinic on intellectual property (IP) and management was also operated to provide advice on patent strategies and management issues.
VC Association plans to continue providing follow-up consulting after the event to help ensure that investment consultations can lead to actual fundraising.
A VC Association official said, "Deal Day is not just a meeting place for corporations and investors, but a program that supports the entire fundraising process from pre-consulting to presentations, investment consultations, and follow-up management," adding, "We will actively support scale-up TIPS corporations so that their strong technological capabilities can translate into actual investment outcomes."
