After earning a doctorate in mechanical engineering from Seoul National University, Kwon worked at companies including SAIC Motor (SAIC) in China. From 2018 to 2023, Kwon handled Autonomous Driving software development and productization at Nvidia. From 2023 until recently, Kwon led intelligent robot development at Samsung Electronics.
Going forward, based on experience in developing and commercializing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies used in Autonomous Driving, Kwon will take on an overarching role that spans from developing the group's core Autonomous Driving technologies to bringing them to market.
Hyundai Motor Group is accelerating the realization of physical AI (AI with a physical embodiment) by successively recruiting key talent in software-defined vehicle (SDV) and Autonomous Driving.
On the 1st, Hyundai Motor Group hired Executive Vice President Kim Dong-wook, who led development of wireless communication systems for iPhone, vehicles, and human robotics at Apple and Tesla, as head of the SDV Platform Development Center in the AVP Division, and Executive Vice President Jeremy Ma, who led robot and Autonomous Driving software development and commercialization at Apple, Toyota, and Nvidia, as head of the Silicon Valley office in the AVP Division.
