Eastar Jet Co. said on the 27th it will operate the Daegu–Zhangjiajie route starting Sept. 1. It is Eastar Jet Co.'s first route departing from Daegu.
Eastar Jet Co.'s Daegu–Zhangjiajie route will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. The outbound flight departs Daegu International Airport at 11:15 a.m. and arrives at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport at 1:35 p.m. The return flight departs Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport at 2:35 p.m. and arrives at Daegu International Airport at 6:35 p.m.
The launch follows Eastar Jet Co. securing international traffic rights for 11 China routes from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in April. For Daegu-departing routes, the carrier was allocated Zhangjiajie and Shanghai.
Eastar Jet Co. will operate the Daegu–Zhangjiajie route from Sept. 1 to Oct. 23 to match peak travel season, and plans to launch the Daegu–Shanghai route in next year's summer schedule.
An Eastar Jet Co. official said, "We expect the launch of Eastar Jet Co.'s Daegu route to further expand air travel options for residents in the Yeongnam region," adding, "We will also work to help boost visits to Daegu by tourists from greater China."
