Jeju Air(089590) said it will begin interline connectivity service with Air Premia starting Aug. 1. Interline is a form of partnership in which an airline links routes operated by another carrier with its own routes for joint sales.
With this interline agreement, 40 routes, including domestic routes operated by Jeju Air and routes to Japan, Taiwan, China, Mongolia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia, will be connected with Air Premia's routes to Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Washington, D.C.
This means passengers can buy a single ticket that covers Jeju Air and Air Premia routes and make transfers more conveniently. However, baggage service varies by connecting segment.
For international-to-international connections, baggage can be checked through from the origin to the final destination. When a domestic segment is included, through-checked baggage is not provided, but itineraries that include the United States are applied uniformly across all segments under international regulations.
Jeju Air currently has interline partnerships with a total of 21 airlines, including Air Premia, Air Canada, United Airlines, and the Lufthansa Group. Air Premia has maintained interline partnerships with carriers including Southwest Airlines.
The two airlines expect the interline agreement to expand their networks and capture transfer demand. A Jeju Air official said, "The interline agreement will allow us to meet diverse travel needs of customers," adding, "We will enhance transfer convenience and continue to improve related services."
An Air Premia official also said, "We expect customer travel convenience to improve further," adding, "We will broaden cooperation with various airlines and continue to expand customers' travel convenience and choices."
