SeAH Aerospace and Defense, a subsidiary of SeAH Besteel Holdings, signed a long-term agreement (LTA) to supply high-strength aluminum alloy materials with global aircraft manufacturer Airbus.
High-strength aluminum alloy is a key material applied to the fuselage and wing structures of Airbus aircraft.
SeAH Aerospace and Defense said on the 23rd that it signed an LTA for high-strength aluminum alloy materials with Airbus at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, a global aerospace and defense industry exhibition being held in London, U.K., from the 20th to the 24th (local time).
Through this agreement, SeAH Aerospace and Defense plans to proceed with quality certification procedures to supply high-strength aluminum alloys to Airbus starting in the second half of this year. Mass production and supply of the materials will begin in 2028.
SeAH Aerospace and Defense said this agreement, unlike the existing practice of signing supply contracts after product certification is completed, involved signing the LTA first on the premise of certification procedures.
On this, SeAH Aerospace and Defense explained that, amid a recent surge in global aircraft demand, supply of aerospace materials that meet material specifications is limited, aligning with Airbus' strategy to build a stable supply chain.
SeAH Aerospace and Defense is continuing its entry into the global market for aerospace aluminum alloys. SeAH Aerospace and Defense is supplying materials to Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), among others, and signed an LTA with global aircraft manufacturer Boeing in December last year.
SeAH Aerospace and Defense is expanding a plant in Changnyeong, South Gyeongsang, with the goal of starting operations next year to meet global demand for aerospace materials.
A SeAH Aerospace and Defense official said, "SeAH Aerospace and Defense has recently been recognized in the global market for excellence in the quality and delivery of high-strength aluminum alloy materials," adding, "We will successfully complete Airbus' final certification going forward and build a stable supply system to grow into a global aerospace materials company representing Asia."
