After 17 rounds of wage and collective bargaining talks, General Motors' Korea operations (GM Korea) labor and management drew up a tentative agreement on the 22nd.
According to the GM Korea branch of the Korean Metal Workers' Union, labor and management produced a tentative agreement in the 17th wage and collective bargaining talks that includes a performance bonus of 15 million won and a monthly base pay raise of 92,000 won.
GM Korea said it would work to finalize plans, including the allocation of a new model, by the third quarter of next year. The union is also said to have accepted this.
The union plans to hold a vote of members on the tentative agreement from the 27th to the 28th. If less than half vote in favor, it must renegotiate with management.
Since their first meeting in May, labor and management have held 17 rounds of talks through the day. As talks hit snags, the union held partial strikes of four hours each, with the night shift on the 15th–16th and the day and first shifts on the previous day and today.
