JEIOcean Heavy Industries, which signed the final contract to acquire the Gunsan Shipyard, will build a smart shipyard using Eum 5G and physical artificial intelligence (AI).
JEIOcean Heavy Industries said on the 21st that it signed a business agreement with EUCAST for the "Gunsan Shipyard smart shipyard construction and Eum 5G-based physical AI solution introduction project." JEIOcean Heavy Industries is a corporation established by Ecoprime Marine Pacific, the largest shareholder of HJ Shipbuilding & Construction, to acquire the Gunsan Shipyard. EUCAST provides Eum 5G, AI transformation (AX), and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.
JEIOcean Heavy Industries will provide test sites, on-site equipment, and process data. EUCAST will draw up the project master plan and build an Eum 5G wireless communication network at the Gunsan Shipyard.
It will also introduce a three-dimensional (3D) Digital Twin platform to monitor the shipyard's assets and processes in real time. It plans to build an IoT sensor network to manage and track cranes and ship blocks, as well as a paperless work and process management system.
The two companies will also build a safety control system that links intelligent AI closed-circuit (CC)TV with IoT sensors that detect gas and environmental information in confined spaces. For welding, painting, and transport processes, they plan to apply industrial and collaborative robots, automated guided vehicles (AGV), autonomous mobile robots (AMR), and physical AI solutions.
They also agreed to jointly participate in the government's AX industrial complex demonstrations and the 5G specialized network diffusion support project. If the project is converted into a government assignment, EUCAST will be granted the highest priority to form a consortium as the lead organization.
