LIG Defense&Aerospace(079550)(LIG D&A) and LG AI Research said on the 21st they will build a next-generation command-and-control system specialized for future warfare.
LIG D&A on the 20th signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LG AI Research at its Seoul office for technology development of a command-and-control system based on a large-scale AI model.
Under the agreement, LIG D&A and LG AI Research will jointly develop "next-generation command-and-control system technology" by using a large language model (LLM) specialized for defense and Generative AI.
A command-and-control system is a system that presents the battlefield situation at a glance so commanders can make decisions quickly and accurately.
LIG D&A has developed intelligent command-and-control system technology while winning national research projects. The core of this agreement is to integrate LG AI Research's advanced LLM into this technology.
In addition, they plan to develop technology that analyzes real-time battlefield situations and AI agent–based command-and-control automation technology.
LIG D&A and LG AI Research will also work together to implement a joint all-domain command-and-control environment going forward. They will apply various AI technologies to the defense domain, including hyperconnectivity and manned-unmanned teaming systems that span land, sea, air, space, and cyber.
An LIG D&A official said, "We will enhance technological competitiveness in defense AI command-and-control," adding, "We plan to jointly lead the development of future weapons systems optimized for ever-changing battlefield environments."
