CNPLUS(115530) said on the 15th that it will build an artificial intelligence (AI) data center with Chonnam National University. It noted that demand to invest in infrastructure is rising amid the AI boom.
The company recently signed an academia-industry cooperation agreement with Chonnam National University for an AI data center. As the first phase, it will build an AI data center on the Chonnam National University campus. Modular containers allow for rapid installation. It will procure electricity with solar power and address heat generation with cooling functions. Thousands of people can use the site for education, research, and demonstrations.
In the second phase, it plans to expand the data center in connection with government policy funds and regional growth funds. The plan is to grow it into a Honam-region AI hub that other universities, regional corporations, and public institutions can use together. CNPLUS and Chonnam National University will form a TF to jointly develop an eco-friendly, high-efficiency AI data center.
Chief Executive Officer Jeong Sang-ok of CNPLUS said, "Starting with Chonnam National University, we will operate AI data centers in the Honam region and move to commercialize the business."
