HD Hyndai Marine Solution, HD Hyundai's ocean comprehensive corporations, said it would partner with the weather information corporations Weathernews in areas including an artificial intelligence (AI) route optimization combined solution.
On the 10th, HD Hyndai Marine Solution said it recently held a signing ceremony for a "basic agreement on business cooperation" at Weathernews' headquarters in Chiba, Japan. Attending were CEO Kim Sung-Joon of HD Hyndai Marine Solution and CEO Tomohiro Ishibashi of Weathernews.
Through this, the two sides agreed to pursue cooperation in areas including: ▲ pushing for Korea's first contract for the AI route optimization combined solution (OSR-OW·Optimum Ship Routeing X OceanWise) ▲ conducting joint marketing for global clients ▲ expanding digital cooperation using ship data and AI technology.
HD Hyndai Marine Solution said that, through domestic demonstrations, it was proven that the AI route optimization combined solution equipped with Weathernews delivers at least a 3% fuel-saving effect.
HD Hyndai Marine Solution said the AI route optimization combined solution can be applied immediately to ships that already use the two companies' services without installing separate equipment or programs.
HD Hyndai Marine Solution said it plans to gradually expand the application of the AI route optimization combined solution to about 8,000 existing client vessels with Weathernews.
Kim Sung-Joon, CEO of HD Hyndai Marine Solution, said, "This agreement is meaningful in that it successfully anchored cooperation between the two companies as an actual business model," adding, "We will unveil the best solution that can achieve the two goals of cutting fuel costs and responding to environmental regulations."
