China's BYD said on the 10th that it surpassed a cumulative production of 17 million eco-friendly vehicles (electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles). BYD explained that this production record is the first in the world.
On the day, BYD produced the large electric sedan "Seal 08" as its 17 millionth eco-friendly vehicle at its Xi'an plant in Shaanxi province, China, and held a commemorative event.
BYD said it was "a result that sets a new milestone in the electrification market and proves BYD's standing," adding, "We will further solidify our leading position based on our proprietary technology and broad portfolio."
BYD's global sales in the first half of this year totaled 1,808,511 vehicles. Of these, overseas sales of passenger cars and pickup trucks were 789,367, up 68% from a year earlier.
