SNT Dynamics(003570) said on the 9th that Senior Researcher Kim Sang-kyung, who is a director at the technology research institute and head of Development Center 1, received the presidential citation for merit in localizing parts at the 2nd Defense Industry Day ceremony.
Kim was recognized for contributing to securing the competitiveness of Korea's defense technology by playing a key role in the independent development of a 1,700-horsepower automatic transmission for the K2 tank and the localization development of an automatic transmission for the K9 self-propelled howitzer during 24 years at the SNT technology research institute.
Kim is currently continuing research and development of core technologies for next-generation maneuver equipment, including electrification, hybrids, and manned-unmanned teaming systems. Kim is also taking part in the government's policy to strengthen technology-cooperation-based export structures that encompass the supply of finished goods in mass production and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).
Kim said, "This is a meaningful achievement in which the government recognized the efforts of SNT Dynamics researchers who researched and developed core technologies in the maneuver equipment field," adding, "For the sustainable development of Korea's defense industry, we will redouble efforts in research and development of game-changing core technologies for next-generation weapons systems."
