Hyundai Motor(005380) will open "the new Grandeur tech pop-up store" on the 9th in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong District, Seoul. It will run through the 10th to introduce major new technologies and the development process first applied by Hyundai Motor to the new Grandeur, which was released in May this year.
At the pop-up store, technologies related to driving performance, such as engine stop-angle control and motor reverse-phase control, as well as convenience technologies, including second-row reclining seats, ventilated seats, Pleos Connect, and Smart Vision Roof, and safety technologies, such as pedal misapplication safety assist, will be introduced.
Engine stop-angle control is a technology in which, at the moment the engine stops and switches to motor drive as the car decelerates or comes to a halt, the P1 motor (a motor directly coupled to the engine) controls the position of the crankshaft. This allows the next engine start to pass through the load range quickly and smoothly, reducing resulting vibrations by 51% compared with before and improving ride comfort.
Motor reverse-phase control is a technology in which the P1 motor and P2 motor (the motor responsible for drive and regenerative braking) generate torque in the opposite direction of engine vibration to cancel it out, reducing vibration that occurs when the engine operates. With this technology, the new Grandeur improved in-cabin booming noise by about 3 dB.
The pop-up store also introduces how Hyundai Motor optimized the space of the new Grandeur to add reclining ventilated seats in the second row, the method for improving the transmission path of road-surface vibrations, and aerodynamic performance enhancements to optimize the vehicle body's airflow.
Pleos Connect, a next-generation infotainment platform first applied to the new Grandeur, is also on display. A space was also created to experience the large language model (LLM)-based generative artificial intelligence (AI) agent, Gleo AI, and the Pleos app (application) market.
Pedal misapplication safety assist, which limits driving power if an obstacle is detected within 1.5 meters in front or behind the car or if the driver's sudden accelerator pedal input is detected when starting after a stop or during low-speed driving, was also introduced. Features such as remote smart parking assist with memory reverse assist, which stores a route of less than 50 meters when driving at 30 kph or less and supports automatic reversing, were also introduced.
Along with these, convenience features such as ▲ power air vents ▲ Smart Vision Roof ▲ first-row monitoring system ▲ multi-function switch and electronic shift lever ▲ MagSafe-compatible dual smartphone wireless charging system were also exhibited.
Hyundai Motor will also hold an event offering souvenirs such as keyrings or fans to visitors who photograph exhibits in this tech pop-up store space and share them as social media (SNS) posts.
A Hyundai Motor official said, "The new Grandeur tech pop-up store is Hyundai Motor's first technology-focused pop-up store and a venue where general customers can directly experience the Grandeur's advanced technologies," adding, "Hyundai Motor will continue to provide a more differentiated mobility experience based on customer-centered technological innovation."
