Kia appointed Executive Vice President Song Min-su as the new CEO. With this, Kia will shift from the previous single-CEO system under Song Ho-sung to a co-CEO system with Song Ho-sung and Song Min-su.
Kia said on the 8th that its board of directors appointed Executive Vice President Song Min-su as a new CEO. The change takes effect today.
The appointment of Executive Vice President Song Min-su is a follow-up measure to Hyundai Motor Group's organizational streamlining. In May, Hyundai Motor Group appointed President Choi Jun-young, who oversees Kia domestic production and serves as chief safety officer (CSO), to head policy development. The role had been held by Hyundai Motor Group Executive Vice President Chung Sang-bin, but the rank was raised to president level to put greater emphasis on labor management.
With President Choi's move, Executive Vice President Song Min-su took charge of Kia's domestic production and the CSO role. Song, while overseeing production and safety management, is also expected to handle labor management.
Executive Vice President Song Min-su, formerly head of Kia's Hwaseong Plant, is regarded as a production expert. He led Kia's labor support business division from 2020 to 2021 and headed Kia Autoland Hwaseong from 2022 through this year.
