Vice Chairman Jang Se-wook of Dongkuk Steel ordered organizational innovation on the level of refounding the company as it marks its 72nd anniversary.
At the 72nd anniversary ceremony held on the 7th at the Ferrum Tower headquarters in Suha-dong, Jung District, Seoul, Vice Chairman Jang presented "Corporate Refounding" as the keyword. The three companies—DongKuk Holdings, Dongkuk Steel Mill, and Dongkuk CM—inherit the founding spirit of the parent company Dongkuk Steel Mill (now DongKuk Holdings) and designate July 7 as their founding day. Dongkuk Steel Mill was founded in 1954 by founder Jang Kyung-ho.
Jang said, "The age of artificial intelligence (AI) is the right time to reestablish the company's reason for being, approaching it from a redesign perspective rather than simply introducing AI."
Jang said, "Right now, if you assume you are founding the company again, you need to consider whether you would build the same organization as today," and added, "Let's be people who can lead the flow and set direction at a time when we must change with an attitude that guards against mannerism, that is, inertia."
This year marks Vice Chairman Jang's 30th year at Dongkuk Steel Mill. On the day, an employee born in 1996, the year Jang joined the company, presented a plaque of appreciation on behalf of all employees.
