Korea Line Corporation, the shipping institutional sector affiliate of SM Group, said on the 7th that it appointed Min Sang-gi, former president of Konkuk University, as its new CEO.
Korea Line Corporation held an extraordinary shareholders meeting and a board meeting at the Korea Listed Companies Association building in Mapo District, Seoul, on the 6th and approved the agenda item to appoint the new CEO.
Born in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, in 1955, CEO Min earned his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in food engineering from the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany.
He was appointed a professor at Konkuk University in 1995 and went on to serve as graduate school dean and executive vice president for academic affairs at the same university, before serving as the 20th president for four years starting in Sep. 2016.
Korea Line Corporation said it expects Min's capabilities as an expert in organizational management and talent development to contribute to enhancing corporate value as a national-flag carrier and to ESG (environmental, social and governance) management.
In his inaugural address, Min said, "We will pursue relentless innovation to drive growth and discover future growth engines, make ESG management that prioritizes sustainability our top action task, and, while strengthening our fundamentals through the establishment of flawless ethical management, aggressively target high value-added markets."
