Nexen Tire said on the 6th that it discussed strategies to respond to the local market centered on its Qingdao production base and future cooperation plans with a Qingdao city delegation from China that visited its Magok headquarters in Gangseo District, Seoul.
The Qingdao city delegation that visited the headquarters included Mayor Ren Gang of Qingdao, Gao Liping, chair and general manager of Shandong Port Group, and Li Hucheng, secretary-general of the Qingdao municipal government.
The talks were arranged as part of the Qingdao municipal government officials' visit to Korea. Nexen Tire is using its Qingdao plant as a key production base to respond to the Chinese market.
Recently, it has been proving its technology by expanding cooperation on supplying original equipment (OE) tires to local automakers such as Beijing Hyundai, BYD and Leapmotor.
In the replacement tire market as well, it is accelerating efforts to strengthen partnerships with local distributors, including by inviting executives from TUHU, China's leading automotive aftermarket platform.
A Nexen Tire official said, "The Qingdao plant is a key production base that supports Nexen Tire's growth in China and its response to global automaker customers," adding, "We will further solidify our cooperation with the local government and partners and continue to strengthen our competitiveness in the Chinese market."
