EcoPro BM said on the 5th it marked its 10th anniversary by sharing with employees, through its in-house communications channel "Eco Tok Tok," the investment and technology innovation results it achieved while growing alongside the capital market. With a rights offering underway ahead of joining as a major shareholder in an Indonesia nickel smelter, the aim is to successfully wrap it up and prepare for "another 10 years."
EcoPro BM is a company that EcoPro, which started in 1998 in Ochang, North Chungcheong, as a venture with two employees, established in 2016 by partitioning its battery materials business. As EcoPro secured global customers including Japan's Sony and Samsung SDI, it was a move to expand the battery materials business.
EcoPro BM completed its fourth cathode materials plant with a monthly capacity of 500 tons using 60 billion won invested by investment management firm bnw in 2016. In 2018, it developed "nickel·cobalt·aluminum (NCA) 034" with a nickel content of 87%, and within a year doubled its production capacity, ranking No. 2 in the global NCA materials market after Japan's Sumitomo.
EcoPro BM raised 172.8 billion won when it listed on KOSDAQ in 2019, and using that as seed money, it secured a 165,000-square-meter site in the Yeongilman Industrial Complex in Pohang and began construction of the CAM6 plant. It then completed its Debrecen, Hungary, plant with an annual capacity of 54,000 tons, establishing an annual production system of 270,000 tons.
EcoPro BM plans to accelerate investment in an Indonesia nickel smelter to maximize its cathode competitiveness by raising funds through a 1.2 trillion won rights offering released on the 30th.
