Polestar Korea said on the 2nd that it released the flagship large electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) "Polestar 3." It comes in three trims: ▲ rear motor (starting price 77.9 million won) ▲ dual motor (85.9 million won) ▲ performance (99 million won).
All Polestar 3 trims are equipped with a newly developed permanent magnet synchronous rear motor. In addition, the dual motor and performance trims add an asynchronous front motor. Based on the performance trim, maximum output reaches 680 horsepower, and it takes 3.9 seconds to go from a standstill to 100 kph.
In particular, rear-biased power distribution and near 50:50 weight distribution deliver both the stability of a large SUV and agile driving dynamics. It also applies an automatic front motor decoupling function, actively controlling front motor engagement depending on driving conditions to improve everyday efficiency.
Polestar 3 balances comfort and performance through precisely tuned chassis technology. The dual motor and performance trims offer electronic damping control according to road conditions. Drivers can choose one of three modes—standard, agile, and firm—depending on driving conditions.
Polestar 3 equips a 92 kWh battery for the rear motor and a 106 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery for the dual motor and performance. With an 800V architecture, it supports a maximum charging speed of 350 kW. This enables charging from 10% to 80% in about 22 minutes.
Under Korea's certification standard, the maximum range on a single charge is 486 km for the dual motor and 438 km for the performance. The rear motor is 603 km under the European (WLTP) standard, and the Korea-certified range will be announced later.
It also delivers strong computing performance based on the Nvidia Drive AGX Orin processor. This quickly and intelligently controls advanced safety systems, battery performance, and various sensor data, and it is designed to continuously add new features and improve digital functions in the future. Advanced safety functions are also supported through 12 ultrasonic sensors, five mid-range radars, and five cameras.
Starting today, Polestar 3 can be ordered online through the official Polestar website, and customers can view and consult on the vehicle at seven Polestar Spaces nationwide. Test drives will begin in Aug., and deliveries will proceed sequentially from Sept.
Ham Jong-seong, head of Polestar Korea, said, "Polestar 3 is a model that offers differentiated value to customers who value individuality and style," adding, "With competitive pricing and outstanding product strength, it will set a new standard in the premium electric SUV market."
