Automobili Lamborghini unveiled the high-performance model of its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) super sport utility vehicle (SUV), the "Urus SE Performante," on the 2nd.
The Urus SE Performante is equipped with a powertrain that combines a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine with a permanent-magnet electric motor. This delivers 812 horsepower, the highest system output in Urus history, and up to 1,000 Nm of torque. That is an increase of 146 horsepower and 150 Nm compared with the previous Urus Performante.
To achieve best-in-class performance, carbon fiber is applied extensively throughout the body. The newly designed hood and front and rear bumpers, together with two rear spoilers, improved aerodynamic efficiency and brake cooling performance.
A notable feature is a 3% reduction in the drag coefficient compared with the Urus SE. This is a key factor in improving fuel efficiency and overall vehicle efficiency. The Urus SE Performante achieved the same drag figure as the previous Urus Performante and delivered aerodynamic downforce that increased by 16% compared with the previous Performante and by 23% compared with the Urus SE.
For the first time in the Urus lineup, "AURA dual-chamber air suspension" has been applied. This system halves body roll at high speeds and, compared with the previous-generation Urus Performante, reduces vibrations by 25%, significantly improving ride comfort.
Compared with the Urus SE, the Performante version newly adds a "Rally" mode specially tuned to maximize driving enjoyment on unpaved surfaces. An EV mode that enables fully electric driving is also provided.
The Urus SE Performante takes 3.3 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 100 kph (zero to 100) and 10.8 seconds to 200 kph. Top speed is 312 kph.
