Hansol Paper, a leading domestic paper corporations, is making a full-fledged entry into the beauty materials market by highlighting eco-friendly cosmetic ingredients. The strategy is to accelerate its transition into a comprehensive materials corporations by expanding its eco-friendly functional materials business beyond traditional papermaking.
Hansol Paper said on the 2nd that it participated in in-cosmetics Korea 2026, the country's largest trade show dedicated to cosmetic ingredients held at COEX in Seoul, and unveiled the eco-friendly new material Duracle.
In-cosmetics Korea is the country's only global B2B cosmetic ingredients exhibition where cosmetic ingredient manufacturers, researchers and buyers from around the world share the latest ingredient technologies and market trends. It opened on the 1st and runs through the 3rd.
At this exhibition, the Duracle that Hansol Paper is showcasing is an eco-friendly, biodegradable material derived from pine trees and a natural thickener that can replace chemical thickeners used in cosmetics. Thickeners are key ingredients that determine the viscosity, formulation stability and feel of cosmetics, helping functional ingredients disperse uniformly and be delivered stably.
Duracle is a natural material developed in line with the recent growth of the clean beauty market, and it also has the strength of being a "Clean-ical" ingredient with clinical performance such as moisturizing power and UV protection. The company expects that, by combining eco-friendliness and functionality, it can respond to market demand for sustainable cosmetic ingredients.
In particular, Duracle is evaluated as an ingredient that also fits the vegan trend, which is growing in importance in the global cosmetics market, as it became the first in the domestic paper industry to obtain certification from EVE VEGAN, a French vegan certification body.
Hansol Paper is currently working to sign supply contracts for Duracle with major cosmetic brands at home and abroad, and plans to use this as a foundation to ramp up its push into the global cosmetics market.
A Hansol Paper official said, "We will target the global cosmetics market based on high value-added new materials that bring together the research and development (R&D) capabilities accumulated over some 60 years."
