Choi Joo-sun, president and CEO of Samsung SDI, said on the 1st that, as promised early this year, he expects a turnaround in this year's results.
Choi said this in a commemorative address at the "56th anniversary ceremony" held at the headquarters in Giheung, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, saying that with a stance of pessimistic optimism, the company quietly strengthened its fundamentals over the past year and laid the groundwork for a new leap forward.
Choi listed the achievements of each business division one by one and repeatedly expressed gratitude to employees. He cited as representative achievements the recent string of energy storage system (ESS) project wins and supply contracts with global premium electric vehicle makers, efforts to restore the fundamental competitiveness of cylindrical batteries, and proactive responses in high value-added new industries such as advanced packaging semiconductor materials and high-definition, high-efficiency display materials.
Choi, however, said there is still a long way to go and noted that steady execution is more important than anything else for these achievements to lead to sustainable growth.
Choi then urged active use of artificial intelligence (AI) in work processes. He said AI is already embedded throughout daily life and ordered that for the company to preempt and dominate future markets, it must completely remake itself into a truly "AI Native corporations."
In particular, he said "Agentic AI" is a paradigm shift that fundamentally changes how we work and business models, adding that the company will boldly ride this wave of change and once again step up as a company with the world's No. 1 technology.
