The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA) said on the 1st they signed an MOU on operating and managing the "rapid commercialization support project for AI application products in manufacturing" to help small manufacturing companies transition to artificial intelligence (AI).
The project supports small manufacturing companies' AI transition led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. A budget of 87 billion won will be invested in 36 projects from this year to next year. The plan is to identify projects to strengthen corporations' competitiveness, including industrial safety and process and management innovation.
KBIZ and the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA) plan to cooperate through this agreement on: ▲ management of support project tasks ▲ on-site adoption support for root industries and cooperative association projects ▲ discovery of on-site difficulties and proposing improvements ▲ fostering best practices and spreading outcomes ▲ planning follow-up projects.
KBIZ will participate in this project as a managing institution for areas such as root industries. It will also take on roles including communication with implementing institutions, identifying on-site problems, and checking task execution status.
The AI Innovation Promotion Team at the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA) plans to provide supporting fire so the project can move forward, working with KBIZ on project operations and task management procedures.
Yang Chan-hoe, executive managing director at KBIZ, said, "The federation is the institution that best understands the unique characteristics of root industries and cooperative associations," adding, "We will manage the selected support tasks so they lead to productivity gains by reflecting voices from the field."
