Hanwha Power has entered the U.S. combined-cycle power generation market. It signed a contract to supply three fuel gas compressors (FGC, Fuel Gas Compressor) for a combined-cycle power plant, marking Hanwha Power's first entry into the North American market. In addition to supplying the fuel gas compressors, Hanwha Power also signed a long-term maintenance contract, laying the groundwork to fully push into the North American market.

Hanwha Power said on the 24th (local time) that, based on its cooperation with Korea Southern Power (KOSPO), it took part in the completion and commercial operation launch event for the "Trumbull Energy Center combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT)" held in Trumbull County, Ohio.

The Trumbull Energy Center is a project in which Korea Southern Power (KOSPO) participated in development and investment, and is a 950-megawatt (MW) high-efficiency combined-cycle power plant built to secure a replacement power source for aging coal-fired plants.

Through this project, Hanwha Power supplied three fuel gas compressors, securing its first performance record in the U.S. market. The equipment is an integrated centrifugal compressor with variable frequency drive (VFD) technology, characterized by enabling stable operation in regions with significant seasonal pipeline pressure fluctuations.

Hanwha Power also signed a nine-year long-term service agreement (LTSA). The contract includes the supply of major spare parts and three rounds of large-scale maintenance services. Hanwha Power plans to carry out on-site support and parts maintenance based out of its Houston service center in the United States.

Choi Ju-mong, head of Hanwha Power's Trumbull subsidiary, said, "The Trumbull Energy Center is a signature power generation project pursued by Korea Southern Power (KOSPO) in the North American market and an important milestone that contributes to stable power supply and the transition to eco-friendly energy," adding, "Through cooperation with domestic corporations, including Hanwha Power, we will prove the competitiveness of Korea-style power generation technology and continue to expand our presence in the global market."
