Partially updated models of Mercedes-Benz's premium full-size sedans, the "S-Class" and "Maybach S-Class," are making waves in the sluggish luxury import market. They topped 1,000 units four days after preorders began and are now approaching 2,000 units in just over a month.
Mercedes-Benz Korea said on the 25th that preorders for the New S-Class and the New Maybach S-Class have surpassed 1,800 units. The two vehicles are slated for full-scale deliveries starting in the third quarter of this year, but the planned allotments are already sold out.
The S-Class is a symbolic model where Mercedes-Benz's most advanced technologies debut first. In line with that, Mercedes-Benz meticulously refined every detail of the S-Class, attempting the broadest changes achievable within a single generation. More than 50% of the vehicle—about 2,700 components—were newly developed or redesigned.
In this facelift, Mercedes-Benz kept the S-Class's signature luxurious interior and comfortable ride while significantly enhancing digital functions. It built a digital environment across the entire lineup based on Mercedes-Benz's own operating system (MB.OS) and made sweeping improvements to the powertrain and advanced driver-assistance technologies.
A Mercedes-Benz Korea official said, "Through the most extensive update ever, we have embedded future-ready technology and digital innovation."
The New S-Class comes in six trims: ▲ S 350 d 4MATIC ▲ S 450 4MATIC ▲ S 450 4MATIC Long Exclusive ▲ S 450 4MATIC Long AMG Line ▲ S 500 4MATIC Long ▲ S 580 4MATIC Long. Prices, including VAT, range from 154 million won to 270 million won.
The New Maybach S-Class will be released in Korea in three trims: ▲ Maybach S 580 ▲ Maybach S 580 Manufaktur ▲ Maybach S 680. Prices range from 317 million won to 407 million won. Maybach is Mercedes-Benz's top-tier sub-brand. Manufaktur is a program for bespoke builds of colors, materials and specifications to customer preference.
Mercedes-Benz Korea will also unveil limited editions to mark the launch of the New Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Two variants—the S 450 4MATIC Long AMG Line "AMG Line Plus Edition" and the S 500 4MATIC Long "Sparkling Black Edition"—will be limited to 140 units each.
A repurchase program will be offered for existing S-Class owners. When purchasing the New S-Class, customers can receive a 2% repurchase benefit on the vehicle price and an extended warranty package (1 year/30,000 km). Returning the current vehicle adds a trade-in benefit of an additional 1% off the vehicle price, for a maximum discount of 3%.
