Hyundai Motor and Kia said on the 24th they formed a cybersecurity working group within the Korea-U.S.-Japan economic dialogue (TED) and held the first seminar.
TED is a policy seminar where key leaders from the government and business sectors of Korea, the United States, and Japan gather to identify multifaceted opportunities and discuss ways to expand mutual interests such as economic development and national security. Hyundai Motor and Kia have sponsored TED since 2023 to strengthen the strategic partnership among the three countries and build a new, future-oriented relationship.
Hyundai Motor and Kia led the formation of the small-group cybersecurity working group on the theme of security. It is the first time a small group has been formed within TED based on a specific topic. As the boundary between virtual and physical spaces grows blurred, cyberattacks are occurring in complex ways, and artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are being adopted at a rapid pace. As a result, the likelihood of damage to corporations is increasing, which formed the backdrop for holding the seminar.
The seminar hosted by Hyundai Motor and Kia was themed "Security response strategies in the AI era." Professors from participating companies and leading domestic universities attended to share the latest trends in cybersecurity and strategy cases, and held an expert discussion on security in the AI era. Hyundai Motor and Kia plan to regularly share security-related trends and operational experiences to jointly respond to global cyber threats going forward.
A Hyundai Motor and Kia official said, "As global supply chain connectivity increases, cross-border cybersecurity responses are essential," adding, "We hope to establish a practical security cooperation system through this working group."
