Hyundai Motor Group reorganized the Advanced Vehicle Platform (AVP) division to strengthen its software-defined vehicle (SDV) capabilities and recruited talent from Tesla and Nvidia.
On the 23rd, industry sources said Hyundai Motor Group created an SDV platform office and an HMI (human machine interaction) office within the AVP division.

The Autonomous Driving development center led by Yu will remain a direct-report organization to the AVP division.
Executive Vice President An Hyeong-gi, head of the electronics development center, was appointed to lead the HMI office. An will advance an integrated HMI development system that spans from product and customer experience planning to software implementation and service business operations.
Hyundai Motor Group also hired Senior Executive Director Kim Dong-uk, who previously worked at Tesla. Kim will head the SDV platform development center and handle advancement of the vehicle architecture and the design and development of over-the-air (OTA) communication systems.
Kim is known as an expert in in-vehicle wireless communications who oversaw wireless hardware design, certification and mass production at Apple and Tesla.
Hyundai Motor Group expects Kim to lead the group's in-house design and quality assurance of wireless communication systems.
