Global painting equipment specialist SATA Group has launched strategic investment and business cooperation with Chinese AI painting robot specialist "CurveRobot."
SATA Group said on the 22nd that on the 9th it held a signing ceremony for strategic investment and business cooperation with CurveRobot at Yaoda International Hotel in Wenling, Zhejiang Province, China.
The event was attended by the chief executive officers (CEO) and key executives of SATA Group and CurveRobot, as well as a government official from China. From Korea, Yoon Doo-young, CEO of Changrae, a mobility service corporations that is CurveRobot's general partner in Korea, attended and discussed ways to expand cooperation.
The cooperation is drawing attention in the industry as a strategic combination of a German corporations strong in traditional manufacturing technology and a Chinese corporations at the forefront of AI-based automation technology.
Recently, the global manufacturing industry has faced challenges including a shortage of skilled workers, quality standardization, improved working environments, and higher productivity. In response, there has been a rapid move to shift paint processes, which have relied on manual labor, to robots and intelligent automation systems.
Founded in 1907, Germany's SATA is a global painting equipment corporations with more than 100 years of history. It offers a premium lineup essential to the painting industry, including spray guns, paint cup systems, respiratory protection equipment, and filter technology, and now supplies products to about 100 countries worldwide. Based on a product portfolio of about 4,000 types, it has secured high technical prowess and brand trust in automotive and industrial painting.
CurveRobot is a Chinese corporations that has developed AI-based intelligent painting robot technology. Since 2016, it has focused on developing core technologies such as AI algorithms, motion control, and spraying processes. In particular, by using 3D vision recognition and high-precision motion control technology, it provides a solution that automatically analyzes the shapes of vehicles and industrial products and implements optimal painting paths.
Industry watchers view the cooperation as a result of SATA's high evaluation of CurveRobot's technological capabilities and global growth potential. If SATA's precision spraying technology and global sales network are combined with CurveRobot's AI-based automation technology, it is expected to raise productivity and quality competitiveness in the painting industry by a notch.
