The Ministry of SMEs and Startups said on the 18th it will hold a discount event linking popular products from corporations participating in the Companion Festival with Jeju Beer to expand sales channels for small business owners and ease inflation pressures.
The event, which begins on the 19th, was prepared to sell products from small business owners, who struggle to secure distribution networks, through major retail channels to provide them with new sales routes. Consumers can purchase high-quality products made by small business owners at reasonable prices.
Among the corporations participating in the festival, three companies—Bugak Village, Mountains and Fields, and Sunhae Fisheries—will take part. Bugak Village is a regional brand that grew as a young merchant who started at Gwangju's 1913 Songjeong Station Market showcased bugak products using local agricultural and marine products.
Mountains and Fields started as a small startup and popularized the "Handful of Nuts" market. It contributed to the growth of the nut market through quality innovation, including introducing a sterilization system and anti-rancidity packaging processes.
Sunhae Fisheries began as a dried seafood processor and expanded its business by introducing snacks using squid and salmon, among others. Based on its own processing technology, it worked to broaden the consumer base for seafood products.
Jeju Beer, which is participating together, is a corporations that grew through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) local creator support program and was listed on KOSDAQ in 2021. It produced craft beer using regional resources such as Jeju volcanic bedrock water and tangerine peel.
At this event, Jeju Beer will be sold at 8,900 won for four cans, and the three companion products can be purchased at prices discounted by up to 38% from their regular prices.
The event will be held from the 19th, when the Korea men's national soccer team plays its second group-stage match at the World Cup, at 23 Segyelomart stores nationwide. From mid-July, the companion products will also be sold at Seven-Eleven convenience stores nationwide.
An official at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) said, "We plan to promote various special exhibitions so that excellent products discovered through the Companion Festival can grow into nationwide brands."
