FLO Auto Korea (FLAK) said on the 17th that it will officially launch Ford's flagship sport utility vehicle (SUV), the "All-New Ford Expedition." It is the fifth-generation model, coming five years after the fourth generation in 2021.
Up front, signature light-emitting diode (LED) headlamps and a large black radiator grille anchor the design. "EXPEDITION" lettering set on the hood, daytime running lights that flow around the grille, 24-inch aluminum wheels, and black power side steps maximize the sense of visual width.
In the rear, the "Ford Split Gate" combines a top door that opens upward with a bottom door that folds down, as before, and is designed around the user for added practicality. In particular, the bottom door sturdily supports up to 227 kg of load. This goes beyond simple cargo loading and can serve multiple purposes such as a bench or table for several adults to sit on.
Inside, the most noticeable changes are the 24-inch panoramic digital display atop the dashboard and the 13.2-inch center stack touchscreen in the middle. The panoramic digital cluster, the largest in its class, is placed close to the lower front area to help keep a safer watch on the road ahead.
On the horizontal center stack touchscreen display, the "Ford Digital Experience" lets you easily control the driving environment and key vehicle functions. Also, the "digital device holder" mounted on the back of the front headrests secures smartphones or large tablets firmly so devices can be used conveniently on the move.
The "Flex Power Console" in the front row center can be moved up to 20 cm with simple button operation. Push the console back and the front row gains ample extra storage space, while second-row passengers can use the climate controls and cup holders more closely and conveniently.
Launched as a seven-seat Platinum model, the all-new Ford Expedition features captain's chairs in the second row for independent use. The third-row bench seat adds 40:20:40 power folding and reclining. Folding down the center backrest of the third row opens a pass-through from the front-row center console to the trunk split gate. Thanks to this, up to six people can travel comfortably even while carrying long items such as skis or fishing rods.
The all-new Ford Expedition pairs a high-performance 3.5L V6 engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission to deliver a maximum output of 446 horsepower and peak torque of 70.5 kg·m. Active noise control reduces unpleasant sounds, and an engine sound enhancer amplifies sporty engine notes.
The all-new Ford Expedition will be released in Korea as a single Platinum model. The price, including value-added tax and a 3.5% special consumption tax, is 123.5 million won. Lee Yundong, CEO of FLO Auto Korea, said, "This all-new Ford Expedition is a model that takes into account the needs and usage environments of active customers from various angles," adding, "Based on its spatial flexibility, we expect it to infinitely expand the radius of everyday activities."
