Toyota Korea said on the 16th that it has officially launched the All New RAV4 and begun sales at Toyota authorized dealer showrooms nationwide. First introduced in 1994, the RAV4 is the model that pioneered a new genre, the "urban crossover SUV," in a market where sport utility vehicles (SUVs) were recognized only as off-road-only vehicles. Over the past 30 years, more than 15 million units have been sold worldwide.
The All New RAV4 comes with the latest electrified powertrains, including plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and hybrid (HEV). Accordingly, the trims are composed of four: ▲ HEV XLE ▲ HEV LIMITED ▲ PHEV XSE ▲ PHEV GR SPORT.
First, the new PHEV system pairs a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine (D4-S) with a 22.6 kWh high-capacity lithium-ion battery to deliver a total of 329 horsepower. Torque, which determines acceleration, produces a maximum of 23.8 kg·m. The company said it achieves strong, stable driving performance along with the instant response characteristic of electrified models.
It can drive up to 77 km in electric (EV) mode alone (single-charge range, combined standard). It also supports the 50 kW CCS1 fast-charging specification, enabling charging from 10% to 80% in about 35 minutes (at an ambient temperature of 25℃).
The HEV models also see improved performance and fuel economy. The HEV LIMITED trim delivers a total system output of 239 horsepower and a combined fuel economy of 15.6 km/L. The HEV XLE trim delivers a total system output of 230 horsepower and a combined fuel economy of 19.0 km/L. Another feature is that the HEV LIMITED trim and the PHEV models are equipped with E-Four, an electronic all-wheel-drive system.
The exterior completes a bold impression by combining LED headlamps with a three-dimensional form and a mesh-pattern grille, based on Toyota's latest family look, the "hammerhead" design. The side profile applies three concepts: ▲ "Big foot" (large foot) with large-diameter tires ▲ "Lift-up," which visualizes off-road driving expectations with a high ground-clearance ratio ▲ "Utility," which embodies practical space efficiency. The rear emphasizes a futuristic yet stable feel with rear fenders that accentuate a wide volume and LED rear combination lamps with a three-dimensional sculptural beauty.
In particular, the newly added GR SPORT trim in this lineup emphasizes a motorsports sensibility. Based on a two-tone color scheme, it applies an exclusive front bumper and radiator grille to create a strong impression. A front lip spoiler and a wing-type rear spoiler, whose fore-and-aft aerodynamic balance was thoroughly calculated through wind-tunnel testing, generate downforce during high-speed driving.
Inside, a horizontal layout is applied. A 12.3-inch large instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch Full HD center display provide driver-centric intuitive operability. An electronic shift lever with a shift-by-wire system (HEV LIMITED, PHEV XSE, PHEV GR SPORT) has been newly introduced. Practicality of space has also improved thanks to a multifunction center console that can be opened from both the left and right and whose armrest can be flipped and used as a tray.
The All New RAV4 newly applies Toyota Connect (TOYOTA CONNECT), a next-generation connected service. It is implemented based on Arene, Toyota's next-generation software development platform, to provide a safer and more convenient mobility experience by connecting the vehicle and customer in real time. It was developed in collaboration with LG U+ to provide services optimized for Korean customers.
Customers can use key vehicle functions via a dedicated app, including remote start and climate control, vehicle status checks, and parking location checks. A 24-hour emergency call service and a stolen-vehicle location tracking function are also supported.
Finally, Toyota Safety Sense, Toyota's comprehensive preventive safety system, is equipped. A representative feature is the driver monitoring camera (DMC), which monitors the driver's line of sight, face direction, and blinking to warn of forward inattention and drowsiness. In addition, a new front cross traffic alert (FCTA) function detects vehicles approaching from the left and right in front of the vehicle when approaching intersections and the like at low speed, and provides visual and auditory warnings when there is a risk of collision.
The manufacturer's suggested retail prices of the All New RAV4, including value-added taxes and a 3.5% special consumption tax, are as follows: ▲ HEV XLE 49.27 million won ▲ HEV LIMITED 57.46 million won ▲ PHEV XSE 61.60 million won ▲ PHEV GR SPORT 61.80 million won.
Toyota Korea operates a residual-value-guaranteed financing program called "RAV4 Amazing Switch." With this program, customers can use a new car with a monthly payment in the low 300,000-won range, and at the end of the contract they can receive a guaranteed used-car residual value of up to 65%, allowing flexible vehicle operation.
