The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said on the 14th that, after the Strait of Hormuz was closed due to the Middle East war, the ninth Korean vessel has been transporting crude oil to Korea via the Red Sea, an alternate route.
The tanker is sailing to Korea after loading crude oil at Yanbu Port in Saudi Arabia and passing through the Red Sea. The passage of Korean tankers through the Red Sea began in mid-Apr. and this is the ninth. They have been arriving at domestic ports in sequence and unloading crude oil.
However, specific information such as the vessel name, the shipping company, and the charterer was not disclosed in consideration of the safety of the ship and crew.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) said, "While the vessel was sailing in the Red Sea, we supported the safety of our ship and crew through 24-hour real-time monitoring, provision of navigation safety information, and operation of real-time communication channels between the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the shipping company, and the vessel," and added, "We will continue to do our best to stabilize domestic crude oil supply and demand."
