LS Cable & System's subsidiary LS Eco Energy's Vietnam production subsidiary LSCV recently made its first supply of railcar communication cables to Hyundai Rotem, it said on the 11th.
Railcar communication cables are components that connect control devices and communication systems inside trains to transmit various operating data in real time. The products supplied this time are expected to be applied to hydrogen tram vehicles for the Daejeon and Ulsan urban railways.
LS Eco Energy has secured a track record in the field of special cables for railways through this supply, laying the groundwork for business expansion. In particular, as Hyundai Rotem expands its domestic and overseas railway projects, opportunities to participate in follow-up business are also expected to increase.
LSCV is expanding its product portfolio with a focus on high value-added products. This supply is also part of a strategy to increase the proportion of high value-added products, such as special cables for railway and industrial infrastructure.
LS Eco Energy expects demand for related special cables to grow going forward, as the Vietnamese government is pushing large-scale railway infrastructure projects such as a north-south high-speed railway and urban railways. Based on LSCV, its local production base, LS Eco Energy plans to strengthen its push into the railway markets of not only Vietnam but also Southeast Asia.
An LS Eco Energy official said, "This supply is significant as the first result of entering Hyundai Rotem's supply chain and advancing into the market for special cables for railways," and added, "We plan to expand cooperation with Hyundai Rotem and, in connection with overseas projects for K-railways, step up our push into the global railway infrastructure market."
