Samsung Heavy Industries said on the 8th that it won an order for one liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from a shipping company in Oceania for 385.5 billion won.
Samsung Heavy Industries' cumulative orders this year total 29 vessels—28 merchant ships and one floating liquefied natural gas production, storage and offloading facility (FLNG)—amounting to $8.5 billion. That is 61% of its annual order target of $13.9 billion.
In particular, orders in the merchant ship sector came to $5.2 billion, reaching 91% of the $5.7 billion order target, putting the company on track for early achievement within the first half, Samsung Heavy Industries said.
A Samsung Heavy Industries official said, "While continuing selective orders focused on high value-added ship types, we are also thoroughly preparing for multiple FLNG projects currently under discussion."
