Samsung Heavy Industries said on the 8th that it won an order for one floating liquefied natural gas production facility (FLNG) from a client in Africa for 3.6536 trillion won.
The FLNG ordered this time is scheduled to be delivered in 2028 after module loading and commissioning work. According to Samsung Heavy Industries, the FLNG had signed a preliminary work contract and proceeded with the process. The topside module work is currently underway.
Samsung Heavy Industries said it has recently been winning FLNG orders in succession, moving to expand orders for high-value offshore plants. This year, Samsung Heavy Industries' offshore institutional sector order performance totaled $4.4 billion, including two FLNG units, achieving 54% of the annual target of $8.2 billion.
A Samsung Heavy Industries official said, "The FLNG ordered this time applied the "Lessons Learned system," making it the world's first project to standardize the entire process from design to commissioning," and added, "We will accumulate this experience as a strategic asset and continue to maintain a dominant competitive edge in the FLNG business."
Meanwhile, Samsung Heavy Industries' cumulative order performance this year, including the merchant ship institutional sector, totaled $9.6 billion. This amounts to 69% of the full-year order target of $13.9 billion.
