KG Mobility (KGM) said on the 2nd that the Musso pickup truck surpassed a cumulative 10,000 units sold just five months after its launch.
The Musso, newly launched in January this year, recorded total sales of 11,538 units through the end of last month. Domestic sales reached 6,642 units (about 58%), while 4,896 units were sold in overseas markets.
The Musso EV, the electric model, sold 6,107 units during the same period. Domestic sales reached 3,718 units (about 61%), and 2,389 units were sold overseas.
From January to May this year, including the EV model, KGM sold a total of 17,645 Mussos, capturing more than 86% of Korea's pickup truck market.
KGM said it assembled a lineup of gasoline, diesel, and EV powertrains so buyers could choose based on driving conditions and purpose, and that expanding design options also proved effective.
The company also said that diversifying the sales models to account for varied uses such as business and leisure positively affected sales.
The Musso is sold in versions including a base model with a standard deck (payload 400 kg), a model with a long deck that increases payload by 100 kg, and a model with a power leaf suspension offering a 700 kg payload.
KGM plans to step up its push into the global market by expanding launch countries, starting with a Musso launch event held in Türkiye in April.
A KGM official said, "The Musso surpassing 10,000 cumulative sales just five months after launch proves its competitiveness not only in defending the domestic market but also in key global strategic markets," adding, "We will widely showcase the strength of K pickup trucks on the global stage going forward."
