HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate shipbuilding holding company of HD Hyundai, said on the 1st that it recently signed a construction contract with an Asia-based shipping company for eight very large gas carriers (VLGCs).
The total amount of the order is 1.4161 trillion won. The newly ordered very large gas carriers will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and delivered by the first half of 2030.
Including this order, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured a total of 123 ships worth $14.17 billion to date, achieving 60.8% of its annual order target of $23.31 billion.
By ship type, the company won orders for 16 LNG carriers, 28 container ships, 36 LPG/ammonia/liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, 7 crude oil carriers, 33 product carriers (PCs), 2 pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs), and 1 other (icebreaker).
