Daehan Shipbuilding won orders for two additional Suezmax crude oil tankers, increasing this year's cumulative orders to 15 ships.
Daehan Shipbuilding said on the 1st it won an order on the 29th for two Suezmax crude oil tankers worth a total of 282.8 billion won from a shipping company in Oceania. The price is about 141.4 billion won per ship, the highest among the vessels Daehan Shipbuilding has won this year.
The vessels are scheduled to be delivered sequentially in Nov. and Dec. 2028. Daehan Shipbuilding said it has secured a construction backlog for delivery through the end of 2029, but by shortening process time through productivity gains, it created additional remaining slots in 2028.
Wang Sam-dong, chief executive of the business institutional sector at Daehan Shipbuilding, said, "Through a continuous-build system for Suezmax vessels, productivity has improved significantly," and added, "Thanks to shortening the process cycle with the know-how accumulated over time, we were able to secure construction volume with high revenue."
