Doosan Enerbility won a construction order worth about 840 billion won for a combined heat and power plant in Saudi Arabia.
Doosan Enerbility said on the 1st that it signed a contract with a consortium of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Saudi Aramco for the "Saudi Jafurah combined heat and power plant phase 2" construction project.
Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) will participate as the developer in charge of project development and operations. Doosan Enerbility plans to carry out the project under an EPC method that covers the entire process from design and equipment supply to installation, construction and commissioning.
Jafurah combined heat and power plant phase 2 will be built near the Jafurah gas field, about 400 kilometers east of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Aiming for completion in 2029, once finished it will produce 330 megawatts (MW) of electricity and 465 tons of steam per hour to supply power and heat to the nearby gas field. The main equipment, a steam turbine, will be manufactured and supplied by Doosan Enerbility subsidiary Doosan Skoda Power.
Lee Hyun-ho, head of the plant EPC BG at Doosan Enerbility, said, "Following the phase 1 project in 2022, we are pleased to win the phase 2 project," and added, "As large-scale power generation projects are expected to continue to be ordered in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East, we will further strengthen our push into the market based on our accumulated technology and experience."
