HD Hyundai said on the 31st it carried out activities commemorating fallen patriots by visiting the Seoul National Cemetery, the Yeongcheon National Cemetery for Patriots, and the Goesan National Cemetery for Patriots during Patriots and Veterans Month. About 200 executives and employees took part, including Chairman Chung Ki-sun of HD Hyundai and President Moon Jae-young of HD Construction Equipment.
Chung visited the memorial tower at the Seoul National Cemetery to lay flowers and offer incense. Afterward, at Section 25, a burial area paired with HD Hyundai, participants pulled weeds and cleaned headstones. Chung said, "HD Hyundai will continue to stand with efforts to remember and honor those who devoted themselves to the nation."
HD Construction Equipment signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs at the Seoul National Cemetery for the construction of a memorial facility honoring U.N. veterans.
Under the agreement, HD Construction Equipment will support building memorial facilities honoring veterans in U.N. member countries that fought in the war and will provide construction equipment needed for the work. The first facility is slated for Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Ethiopia was the only African nation to send ground troops to the Korean War.
HD Hyundai supports people who served the nation and their families across the group's affiliates. HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries each sponsor 20 million won annually for Navy bereaved children. HD Hyundai Construction Equipment aids projects such as improving the aging housing conditions of families of national merit honorees.
