Kia said on the 28th that its compact electric sport-utility vehicle (SUV) EV3 ranked first overall in a comparison test of urban crossover electric vehicles by the German automotive magazine Auto Zeitung.
The vehicles evaluated alongside the EV3 were the Ford Puma Gen-E, Renault 4 E-Tech, Suzuki e Vitara, and BYD Atto 2, for a total of five models. The evaluation was based on five categories: body and driving convenience, powertrain, driving performance, and eco-friendliness/economy.
The EV3 received strong marks in the body and driving convenience and powertrain categories, scoring a total of 3,039 points to take first place overall. The Renault 4 E-Tech (2,936 points) and BYD Atto 2 (2,928 points) followed the EV3 in second and third place.
In particular, in Auto Zeitung's real-world driving test, the EV3 recorded a range of 335 km, the longest among the models evaluated. Kia said it received high marks for responsiveness and acceleration performance, as well as for adjustable regenerative braking strength.
A Kia official said, "This evaluation proves that the EV3 is a highly complete electric vehicle capable of long-distance driving," adding, "We will continue to strengthen differentiated electrification value."
