Hyundai Motor and Kia sold 88,586 vehicles in the European market last month, down 1.3% from the same period a year earlier.
According to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) on the 27th, Hyundai Motor's sales in the European market last month were 44,111 vehicles, down 10.4% from a year earlier.
During the same period, Kia sold 48,175 vehicles, up 7.9%. Cumulative sales for Jan.–Apr. this year were 160,308 for Hyundai Motor, down 7.8% from a year earlier, and 188,274 for Kia, up 2.8%.
The size of the European finished-vehicle market last month was tallied at 1,152,315 units, up 7% from a year earlier. The cumulative market size for Jan.–Apr. this year was 4,672,775 units, up 4.8% over the same period.
Hyundai Motor and Kia's market shares in Europe last month were 3.5% and 4.2%, respectively. Hyundai Motor fell 0.7 percentage point from a year earlier, while Kia rose 0.1 percentage point.
Among Hyundai Motor's models, the Tucson led with sales of 10,966 units. The Kona and i20 followed with 6,597 and 3,953 units, respectively.
Among Kia's models, the Sportage sold 13,140 units, the highest, followed by the Morning at 5,887 and the EV3 at 4,661.
