Hanwha Aerospace said on the 27th it appointed Kim Dong-hyeon, head of the LS (land systems) division, as the new head of its Australia subsidiary.
Kim, the new head, will oversee key tasks for the Australia subsidiary, including capability management at the Geelong, Victoria plant (H-ACE), which has entered full-scale mass production, and nurturing Australia's supply chain ecosystem.
Kim has worked at Hanwha Aerospace for more than 20 years, serving as head of the research institute, head of business sites, and division head, and grew the LS division's business scale by more than tenfold.
Hanwha Aerospace plans to make meeting mass production schedules for the K9 self-propelled howitzer and Redback infantry fighting vehicle in Australia its top priority, starting with this appointment.
In addition, it will build substantive research and development capabilities in Australia and simultaneously begin full-scale operation of H-ACE as a manufacturing base.
A Hanwha Aerospace official said, "We will step up efforts to strengthen execution in the Australia business."
