Asiana Airlines said on the 20th it will expand Mileage Now, a year-round discounted mileage award ticket promotion that has been in place since June last year, to all international routes.
Asiana Airlines offers discounts of up to 10,000 miles on long-haul routes such as North America and Europe, and up to 5,000–8,000 miles on medium-haul routes including Southeast Asia, Japan, and China.
Discounts will be applied for about six weeks from today through the 30th of next month on the Asiana Airlines website and mobile application (app), with travel periods varying by route.
On Japan routes with a 5,000-mile discount, the offer runs through Sept. 15. The same discount over the same period applies to Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Ulaanbaatar among China and Northeast Asia routes.
Among China routes, Beijing, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Yancheng, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, Changchun, Harbin, Yanji, Dalian, Xi'an, Chengdu, and Chongqing will offer discounts on tickets for travel through Oct. 26.
Among Southeast Asia routes with a 7,000-mile discount, Jakarta, Clark, Da Nang, Hanoi, and Manila are valid for travel through Sept. 15. Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, and Phuket are discounted for travel through Oct. 26.
On Central Asia routes such as Almaty and Tashkent, an 8,000-mile discount applies for travel through Oct. 26.
A 10,000-mile discount applies to North America, Europe, and Oceania routes. On North America routes, only Los Angeles is discounted for travel through Sept. 15, with the remaining routes discounted through Oct. 26. The Sydney route is also discounted for travel through the same day.
On Europe routes, Barcelona, Budapest, Paris, Frankfurt, Prague, Rome, and Milan are discounted for travel through Sept. 15, while London and Istanbul are discounted for travel through Oct. 26.
However, business-class mileage discounts do not apply on Los Angeles, Rome, Milan, and Sydney routes.
The company expects that offering mileage award ticket discounts on all routes even during the summer peak season will revive travel demand dampened by high fuel surcharges and ease customer burdens.
An Asiana Airlines official said, "We planned a network-wide discount promotion so customers can plan their summer vacations more cost-effectively through mileage discounts," adding, "We will continue to review various measures so that mileage can be used in a valuable and useful way."
