LS Electric said on the 18th it signed a $70 million (about 105 billion won) contract to supply power distribution equipment for a large data center run by a U.S.-based big tech corporations.
With this order, LS Electric will supply essential power equipment for data centers, including vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs), to the core power network.
A VCB is a key protective device in the power system that distributes incoming high-voltage electricity to where it is used. If an abnormal condition such as a short circuit or overcurrent occurs in the grid, it immediately interrupts the circuit to prevent damage to expensive main facilities and large fires.
LS Electric said the order reflects recognition in the U.S. distribution market not only for its technology and quality but also for its differentiated project execution capabilities, such as rigorous on-time delivery.
Recently in the U.S. market, investment in large-scale data centers and power infrastructure to support the practical expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) services has been surging.
LS Electric expected to leverage this market trend and its technology to win additional large orders.
To that end, it plans to strengthen locally tailored power solutions and expand market share through aggressive sales efforts.
