Hyundai Motor's "The New Grandeur" surpassed 10,000 contracts on the first day of its launch.
Hyundai Motor said on the 15th that The New Grandeur alone logged a total of 10,277 contracts on the 14th, the first day of its launch. This is the second-highest figure among facelift models, following the 17,294 units of the "sixth-generation Grandeur (IG) facelift model" released in Nov. 2019.
A Hyundai Motor official said, "The recent automobile market clearly shows a shift to electric vehicles and increased demand centered on sport utility vehicles (SUVs)," and noted, "Amid this, it is meaningful that, despite being an internal combustion engine sedan and a facelift model, it recorded more than 10,000 contracts in just one day after launch."
Hyundai Motor analyzed that factors behind the popularity of The New Grandeur include the extensive changes to its exterior and interior design and innovations in the digital experience through the next-generation infotainment system "Pleioth Connect."
Looking at the contract status, gasoline models accounted for 58% of total contracts in powertrain choices. This is higher than the previous Grandeur. Hybrid models accounted for 40% of total contracts. However, as the delivery timing for hybrid models is scheduled for the second half depending on the listing schedule under the eco-friendly vehicle notice, analysis suggests that initial contract demand formed relatively around gasoline.
By trim, the top trim "Calligraphy" took 41% of total contracts, showing strength. This is up 12 percentage points from the Calligraphy trim share (29%) of the previous Grandeur. A Hyundai Motor official interpreted this as "a clearer reflection of customers' preference for the enhanced premium features and differentiated product appeal of The New Grandeur."
A Hyundai Motor official said, "Even in a market environment centered on electric vehicles and SUVs, the high interest in The New Grandeur reflects customers' expectations for design, product appeal, and digital innovation," adding, "We will continue to introduce products that provide new value to customers."
