Spatial intelligence solution corporations Deepfine said on the 13th it will begin transforming the tourism industry with artificial intelligence (AX), starting in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang.
Deepfine was selected as the lead organization for the North Gyeongsang consortium in the Ministry of Science and ICT's "AI-based virtual convergence industry promotion project." It plans to develop and test a tourism platform that consolidates real and virtual information by using three-dimensional spatial data from major Gyeongju tourist attractions.
Deepfine is a corporations that develops spatial intelligence solutions for smart glasses and mobile devices based on visual positioning system (VPS), a spatial recognition technology, and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).
In this project, it will build a "spatial intelligence-based virtual convergence tourism platform" that manages location, spatial, and tourism information for Gyeongju tourist sites. Tourists can use Augmented Reality (AR) tourism content rendered over real spaces via smartphones or AI glasses. The service will be offered as Web-based Augmented Reality (WebAR) that can be used without installing a separate application (app).
Based on the Gyeongju pilot, Deepfine will also push for standardization and nationwide rollout of the virtual convergence tourism model. In cooperation with North Gyeongsang Province and Gyeongju City, it will offer the validated service under a public license and plans to establish a tourism standard model that can be expanded to local governments nationwide.
Deepfine CEO Kim Hyeon-bae said, "With this project, the goal is to implement services actually used in real-world spaces and secure sustainable virtual convergence tourism services and a standard model."
